THREE WAYS TO ADD VOLUME TO MEN’S HAIRSTYLES

October 22, 2022

Many modern men’s hairstyles are based on volume and texture and in today’s article we look at the three ways in which we add volume when styling men’s hair. It is a process that bares great results once learned and followed so read on for some good advice from your local barber here at Barber Industries Prestons.

Man with Freshly Styled Haircut

Blowdry And Quiff Roller

To get the process underway we will require a blow dryer and a quiff roller. For those who are wondering, a quiff roller is a round shaped styling brush. To build up a base of volume we start by blowdrying the hair into shape on a medium heat setting. The quiff roller is twisted to roll the hair and pull it up and into position.

Volumising Powder

Styling powders are an amazing modern development in men’s hair products.

The powders bond to the hairs and texturise them for insane lift and weightless volume. We recommend Uppercut Deluxe Styling Powder. Apply moderately and directly over the hair by shaking the can from about 10cm above. Rake the powder through with fingers or with a wide toothed comb.

High Hold And Hair Spray

To lock all that volume into place you want to opt for a hair styling product with reasonably high hold. We recommend Layrite Deluxe Cement Clay as it is easy to work with, provides incredible hold, doesn’t weigh hair down and has a matte finish. To apply rub a small amount between your hands to warm and then pull through your hair to coat and set the structure. To finish up and to add that final touch so your style holds all day, lightly apply a quality hair spray like that from 18.21 Man made.

If you have any questions about styling volume into your hairstyle, remember that our team of master barbers are always on the ready to help, we're open seven days a week at Home Co. Prestons.
