Carefully examine the job description, consider your qualifications and do some research on the company or business where the position is. When your detective work is complete it is time to decide if this this is truely the right role for you.
If your resume is not updated, you best be getting that sorted out and sorted out properly, there is no point investing your time in the nitty gritty stuff if your resume is not on point. Once completed, make hard copies, most employers ask for digital copies but a tangible copy to take with you to your interview will show that you are well prepared and organised.
It is now time to consider answers to common questions like “why do you want to work here” or “what interests you in this position”. It is also a good idea to be ready to ask questions about the role, if there is anything that you are unsure about, you wan’t to use the interview time to clarify.
First impressions are called first impressions for a reason, before you even open your mouth you are going to be judged on your appearance. You will want to prepare your attire beforehand and ensure that you can be appropriately dressed on the day. The ideal kit will differ greatly depending on the role and the industry, no matter what else, ensure that you feel good and are comfortable.
Visit the Barbershop in the days directly prior the interview, have your hair cut accordingly and stock up on all your grooming essentials so that you are not caught short on the day. With a fresh cut and style you will leave looking and feeling your best and you will carry the confidence needed to sell yourself to your potential employer.
The Big Day
When the big day roles around you will be ready to rock, you have prepared well and it is time for the finishing touches. Shower, shave and brush your teeth, get in your kit and get on the road, give yourself plenty of time, don’t be rushed and arrive early.
Remember that prior preparation prevents a piss poor performance, aka the six p’s. Go forth and conquer.
