Dress your best for your first date
When preparing for a date, you should always make an effort to look your best. Although men don’t have as many accessories and makeup, you should strive to look clean and presentable. Take the extra time to visit the barber, get a fresh cut and a straight razor shave too, brush your teeth, and style your hair. Remember to exercise the same level of preparation, whether you’re going to a local bar or a high-end restaurant. Wear your best threads and never keep a lady waiting.
Put physical and emotional distractions away
How well your first date goes will make or break your potential relationship. Because of this, you need to keep your head in the game and know how to pay attention. Keep distractions such as cellphones and any emotional baggage away while you’re talking to her. Yes, this includes avoiding any mention of exes and other woman or relationships. Try to steer away from talking about any other people and focus instead on getting to know each other.
Know when to speak and when to listen
An instant red flag for bad dates is when one person stays too quiet or is too talkative. Your first time together should be an opportunity to understand each other. If they’re not too open about talking about themselves, you should open up about who you are, what you do, and what your interests are. Don’t force them to share things they’re not comfortable with. Instead, ask them about what they’re open to discussing with you.

Lastly, remember to be yourself in your attempt to woo your lady. Regardless of whether she wants to see you again or not, you should always remain a gentleman, be thankful and polite for the night.
