Movember, or the month formerly known as November is fast approaching and that means it’s almost ‘mo’ season. Now entering into its seventeenth year, Movember is about growing a moustache for charity in a bid to raise awareness about men's health. Let’s take a closer look and see how you can get involved.
Since its inception Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, it has challenged the status quo, shook up men’s health research and transformed the way health services reach and support men. In 2018, Movember ran in 20 countries around the world and raised a total of $102.9 million which is a monumental achievement on any scale.
What you may not be aware of is that Movember all started with bunch of blokes in Melbourne raising awareness for prostate cancer. Within several years they had formed a fully-fledged annual event that had become one of the most widely known fundraisers for men’s health globally.
There are several ways for anyone to get involved and make a contribution to the movement. For blokes the obvious choice is to sign up as a Mo Bro to grow this Movember and encourage family and friends to help by donating. The rules are as follows:
Rule 1: Once registered at movember.com each Mo Bro must begin the 1st of Movember with a clean shaven face.
Rule 2: For the entire month of Movember each Mo Bro must Grow and groom a moustache.
Rule 3: Don’t fake it. No beards, no goatees and no fake moustaches.
Rule 4: Use the power of the moustache to create conversation and raise funds for men’s health.
Rule 5: Each Mo Bro must conduct himself like a true gentleman.
So as you can see the rules are pretty simple and it’s easy to get involved and make a contribution to a great cause.
