Life for the modern man is chock-a-block full of stressful situations and events. The daily grind alone can bring the best of men to their knees. Juggling a days work with the needs of the family, a mortgage and a bloody pandemic creates one big mashed up reality and a whole lot of stress.

There is a lot asked of men, long gone are the days of coming home as the bread winner and relaxing while the wife takes care of the household. Just being sympathetic to this ‘old fashioned’ way of life will have us labelled as sexist and conservative. The troubling thing is that todays normal has many men over burdened, stressed out or burnt out.

Within the modern social construct, men are pressured into achieving certain things and when the demands being made of them are greater than what they think they can cope with, they turn to various coping mechanisms.

Some turn to drugs or drinking, others to exercise, sports or entertainment. Everyone deals with stress in different ways and stress itself is very subjective, the things that have one bloke freaking out with his back up against a wall may be merely a hiccup in the day of the next bloke.

There is one common denominator in all of the methods used to cope with stress and that is that they all provide some form of release or cognitive separation from the causation. This is why we believe that a visit to the barbershop can provide the perfect coping mechanism to stress.

The grooming service here at Barber Industries Kotara is both rejuvenating and reinvigorating. Kicking back in the barber’s chair provides a moment in time for relaxation, meditation or even some social discourse. It offers a time out from the daily grind and is an experience that is good for a man’s mind, body and soul.
